Paladin Wireless - Heritage

22 Jan 2018 - The Poles are up!

The poles were installed today.  Next steps:
  • Get power to both poles
  • Hang access points/backhauls
  • Begin testing
We have an electrician who is working on getting power to the pole next to the tennis courts and then we will be establishing an account with Jackson EMC and having them drop a meter next to the other pole.  Once power is up it will only take 1 day to hang the assets.  We will begin testing immediately and start wiring up our test customers.  Once testing is complete, 10 days or so, we will begin lighting up customers from our list.

The front desk will contact potential test customers next week.

Getting Started

To get started you will need to create an account with Paladin Wireless and deposit $100 into it.  This deposit will be used to install the service to your home once the network is live.

To sign up please contact the office at 706-948-3136 and let them know you are from the Heritage at Jefferson.

How we will do it?

Paladin Wireless will expand it's fiber network in Jefferson to feed directly into The Heritage at Jefferson from Gordon Street to Roy Garrett Road.  This will essentially mean that The Heritage at Jefferson will be a true 'Fiber Fed' neighborhood.  This will add home value to every home inside the neighborhood.

It is important to note that this network will exist outside of the Paladin Wireless Jackson County network and would be a 'Fiber Island' having dedicated fiber, network assets, and resources.  This multi-Gigabit network will be built to specifically meet the needs of The Heritage at Jefferson and have enough bandwidth available to anticipate future needs.

Once inside the neighborhood Paladin Wireless will install small access points throughout the neighborhood.  This will create a multi-leg redundant network, meaning if one AP goes down the rest of the network will stay up.  Each subscriber will have a small antenna/radio mounted to their home that will link wirelessly and securely to an access point.

From there the installer will run a cable into the home, to a place the homeowner decides, and then hook into a router/switch provided by the homeowner.  Paladin Wireless sells a few flavors of router but any router will do as long as it is not a WS router.  If you need assistance on deciding what router to get please contact our office and we will be glad to help you out!

The installation will take about 2 hours to complete and will cost $100.

How reliable is it?

This is a question we get asked all the time.  We use 5G technology that is able to provide the greatest level of link availability through any weather.  The network we will develop for the Heritage at Jefferson will be a 5G street level MicroPoP.  This means the access points (the cylinder looking device on the tree in the image above) will be mounted no more than 30' high and will be installed close to the subscribers in most cases within 600 feet!  We will also limit the number of subscribers to each access to point to 30 to ensure we do not over subscribe the hardware.

This technology works in any weather and the only thing that takes them offline will be power related.  If the power is out in your neighborhood then the access points will go down once the battery backups run out of juice.

We also monitor link health remotely.  The image below shows that this link has a rating of 99.959% availability.  Another interesting thing to note is that this link is currently passing 51.7Mbps of traffic!  dashboard.JPG
